Whether you’re camping in the wilderness, road-tripping across the country, or on a business trip in a new city, we’ve got you covered. In this blog post, we’ll be showcasing some of the most innovative and convenient coffee makers on the market that are perfect for all your travel needs.

So, if you’re ready to elevate your on-the-go coffee game and never settle for subpar hotel coffee again, keep reading! We guarantee that by the end of this article, you’ll have found the perfect portable coffee maker to take on your next adventure.

AeroPress and AeroPress Go

The first portable coffee maker on this list is the AeroPress Go. This little gem of a coffee maker is a smaller, more compact version of the ever-popular AeroPress, and it’s perfect for coffee lovers who are always on the go.

You may be wondering why the AeroPress and AeroPress Go are so popular. Simply put, they just make a good cup of coffee.

One of my favorite things about the AeroPress and AeroPress Go is how versatile they are. They are able to make american style coffee, cold brew and even espresso style coffees like lattes and cappuccinos.

When we are out camping or traveling, I always like making a strong espresso and my wife prefers a more mild american style coffee. Because of its versatility, the AeroPress Go quickly became a good solution for us.

How does it work?

The AeroPress makes brewing coffee very quick and only requires the AeroPress Go, hot water and coffee grounds.

Simply install the filter paper into the brew cup and place both onto the drinking cup. Then you can add your grounds and hot water to the brew cup.

Once the coffee is brewing, place the lid on the brew cup and wait about a minute (longer or shorter depending on the strength you want).

After you feel you have brewed the coffee to your liking, you can press the coffee with the plunging lid. The brewed coffee will then dispense into your cup and will be ready for you to enjoy.

The AeroPress Go is one of the most compact, versatile coffee brewers on the market and in my opinion is a definite must have for your next camping adventure or planned trip.

If you find yourself wanting to make simple, individual coffees on the go and would like some subtle customizability (brew pressure, brew time, coffee strength) then I would definitely consider this coffee maker to be a good solution for you.

Cafflano Klassic

Next up is the Cafflano Klassic. Since the Cafflano Klassic is an individual travel coffee maker, it is quite similar to the AeroPress.

However, this little wonder is a true one stop coffee making shop, featuring a hand-mill grinder, drip kettle, metal pour-over filter, and an insulated mug all in one tumbler-shaped package. And did we mention it’s easy to carry around too? You can take it with you on your camping trips, road trips, or even to the office.

How does it work?

Now, let’s talk about how you use it. You can grind your coffee beans, brew your coffee, and drink it all from this one device! Yes, you heard that right. You won’t need anything else but a way to boil water. It’s that simple!

This coffee maker features an adjustable conical grinder which will help ensure you get consistent grind and can adjust how fine the grind is based on the freshness of the bean and its oil content. This can help ensure you get an optimal, fresh coffee every time.

Once the coffee is ground up, the grinds will simply fall into the metal filter and are ready for extraction.

Cafflano Klassic has a very simple extraction process. All you need to do is pour the hot water into the pour cup, place the lid on the cup and pour the water onto the grinds.

This may seem like a tedious process but the slow consistent pour out of the pour cup makes sure there is better extraction.

Unfortunately, because this coffee maker is a drip coffee maker you are not able to make an espresso or a espresso derived coffee like a cappuccino or latte.

That being said, this is a very good coffee maker that is a definite go to when I just want a simple coffee (especially with its built-in insulated cup).

You may also find this coffee maker to be a good solution for you if you are someone who prefers to have more control over the grind size, and values freshly ground coffee.

Collapsible Coffee Maker

This Collapsible coffee maker is a real game changer especially if you are looking for a quick solution for the hotel or backpacking. This light weight ( 5 oz) coffee maker collapses to the size of a typical jar lid making it easily packable and very easy to clean.

How does it work?

This coffee maker is essentially a collapsible silicone funnel with a metal filter on the bottom. All you need to do is put in a number 4 coffee filter, add your coffee grinds, place the funnel over your mug and pour your hot water in.

Talking from experience, you need to make sure that you monitor how much water you are pouring into the funnel/mug and make sure you don’t overpour and make a really big mess…

All in all, this coffee maker is the simplest, cheapest, and most packable coffee maker on this list and is a very good option for anyone who is simply looking for a quick coffee on the go.

As I mentioned before, this coffee maker requires a paper coffee filter which can be annoying but it greatly improves the cleaning required and is not a big deal to bring in a suitcase  or put in a backpack when on a trail.

The Classic Moka Pot

This classic coffee maker has been around for decades, and for good reason. It produces rich, flavorful coffee that’s perfect for starting your day on the right foot.

The Moka Pot is designed to create pressure that forces hot water through the coffee grounds, resulting in a strong, full-bodied brew that’s rich in flavor and aroma.

It’s also super easy to use and clean, making it a must-have for any coffee lover. Unlike some of the options in the list, the moka pot does not simply require hot water, it actually requires a hot plate to bring heat to the water.

Unfortunately this makes it a less viable option for the hotel traveler but is still a good option for the camper and outdoor adventurer. All you would need is a camping stove, camping burner or a grill on a fire.

How does it work?

The Moka pot is still a very easy coffee maker and depending on the size you can brew several cups at once.

To make the coffee you first need to add the water to the bottom cold water reservoir. Once full you need to add the small filter and add the grinds to it. It’s important to note you don’t want to press the grinds in as this could build excess pressure in the pot and can be dangerous. Simply add the grinds loosely.

Once the grinds have been added you can now screw the grinds and water reservoir to the rest of the pot and place the whole thing on a hot burner. After some time you will hear some bubbling from the unit.

If you do, you can lift the upper lid and you will see the brewed coffee in the upper reservoir. Simply pour out the brewed coffee into your mug and enjoy.

This coffee maker is a good option for anyone who enjoys espresso or stronger coffee and has access to a heat source.

In conclusion, whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a new traveler, a portable coffee maker is the perfect companion for your caffeine cravings on-the-go. From the Aeropress to the Cafflano Klassic, the options are endless and guaranteed to satisfy even the pickiest of coffee lovers. So why settle for mediocre coffee on your next adventure when you can brew a fresh and delicious cup of joe with ease? Whether you’re camping in the great outdoors or exploring a new city, a portable coffee maker is the ultimate tool for fueling your adventures and adding some extra pep to your step. Cheers to good coffee and even better travels!
